Every fisherman has
stood in the freezing cold before dawn, trying to make stiff frozen fingers
tie knots in fine fishing line, struggling to see what you are doing in
the dark, getting frustrated to the point of giving up. Good news is here,
we've found a product that may help you out of those rod breaking moments.
Knot Magic is built
to help fishermen in these exact situations. What does it do? It ties the
knots for you. Knot Magic turns what can be a fiddly difficult process
into a few simple easier movements.
Knot Magic has a few
handy functions, a hook threader for feeding line through the eyes of hooks,
a line cutter for trimming those tag ends and keeping your dentist happy,
and of course ties knots. Knot Magic simplifies the process of tying the
lure or the fly fisherman’s best friend, the unit knot. The unit
knot is popular with lure and fly-fishermen because it holds a small loop
in the line that draws tight when under tension. This loop allows the lure/fly
to move freely as it’s pulled through the water without any restriction
to its action that may be caused by the fishing line.
The Knot Magic tool
is compact and fastens onto your rod just above the reel seat for convenient
access. It is designed to be used equally easily left or right handed.
Knot Magic has been tested with line weights from 5 pound to 50 pound and
hook sizes from size 6 to 9/0. As the line gets thinner and the hooks get
smaller it can become difficult to use the hook threading tool and for
fly fishing with 2 or 3 pound tippet and small trout flies it become pretty
difficult, however the knot tying function still works well. We also tested
knot magic for tying on soft plastic jig heads, flies, squid jugs, swivels
and pretty much anything else we could find that you might ever tie a knot
to. The knot tying function performed equally well on just about everything.
The hook threader had trouble with some of the items like jig heads and
flies, however it is called a ‘hook’ threader and does this
job well.
Now if you are a
proficient fisherman who can rip out a unit knot under normal circumstances
in a few seconds, Knot Magic isn't really going to save you much time.
Where Knot Magic excels is for those people who have a little trouble with
their knots. People who find it difficult to focus their eyes up close
on fine fishing line; people who find their fingers refuse to cooperate
when making small movements; beginners who don't yet have confidence in
their knots to hold; and people who take non-fishing friends with them
and seem to spend more time tying tackle for their friends than fishing;
they will all benefit from the Knot Magic tool.
I feel that at one
time or another most fishermen could benefit from the features and I’m
convinced that the Knot Magic tool has lots to offer and would fully recommend
it. At a price of $15 if it only saves you one broken knot on your average
lure it has almost paid for itself!

New
Products:
A
NEW Australian invention, Knot Magic, has been designed to thread hooks,
tie knots and cut line. This handy little gadget also holds hooks and
line (avoiding eyelet damage) when your rod is not in use.
Knot
Magic is a rod-mounted knot tool and according to the press release we
were sent was born from the frustration of one fisho trying to thread
hooks and rig up in the dark. After losing several hooks (and fish) in
an evening, it became clear that the old knot just wasn't working - research
showed the good old Uni knot was one of the strongest and most versatile
knots available and was confirmed by testing. After several attempts,
a rustic mechanism evolved, patenting was secured and inspired industrial
design took it to another level.
Animated
instructions are available on the web site, along with a review of some
popular fishing knots.

Magic can be purchased from the Knot Magic website (www.knotmagic.com.au)
